Discovery kids ramps up the excitement ahead of summer vacations

With the summer holidays coming up, Discovery Kids has kick-started the excitement with the launch of brand new series Sheikh Chilli & Friendz and the Angry Birds, amongst other new shows.

After a positive response to its local content offerings including Kisna, Billoo Bhai, and Little Krishna, the channel is committed to bring refreshingly new, clutter-breaking and heart-warming entertainment to millions of its fans across India. Kids can look forward to a summer vacation full of laughter and fun with new series and movies on Discovery Kids.

Sheikh Chilli & Friendz premieres April 2, and will air every afternoon, at 1 pm; Angry Birds premieres May 6, and will air every noon, at 12 pm, only on Discovery Kids.

Sheikh Chilli & Friendz revolves around the adventures of an innocent boy Sheikh Chilli and his friends from Jhunjhun Nagar. Sheikh Chilli is a day-dreaming simpleton who lives with his mother. He has his heart in the right place, but his plans and actions are a source of humour as well as trouble for his friends. He is joined in his adventures by Malika, his smart neighbor and classmate, Bulbul, his talking friend-turned-brother donkey, the pocket-sized dwarf Khatkoo and the enchanting Noorie Djinn, who has come from another planet to fulfilling Sheikh Chilli’s incredible wishes.

Creating trouble for Sheikh Chilli & Friendz is the evil witch Buri, who covets the magical necklace worn by Noorie Djinn so that she can become all-powerful. The friends encounter various other characters through the course of the series, which result in hilarious situations and many laughs.

The franchise was introduced to children on television through a movie aired in 2016 on Discovery Kids. The series has been conceptualized and created based on characters of Lotpot magazine, in partnership with iRealities. Lotpot magazine has been popular with young readers since 1968 and has created many other iconic characters for children.
